Fennel

Fennel is used as a spice and also as a medicine. It is said to have strengthening effects and is useful in easing bloating, constipation and other digestive problems. It is grown in South Europe and Asia. Whole or ground seeds are both used. Fennel has a slightly sweet taste that is reminiscent of liquorice. It is suitable for meat mixtures, curry, for pickles and beetroot, or in apple pies.
Tip: If you have a cough, prepare yourself a cup of fennel tea, it helps clearing the throat.
