The plant originates from South and Central America, from where it was brought to Europe by the Spanish. The Spanish and Hungarian red peppers are the highest rated nowadays. It is used in meat dishes - mainly goulash, sauces, cheese and smoked meat to which it gives not only a delicate taste but also its bold red colour. Red peppers are an unavoidable part of many spice mixtures.

Tip: Use delicate select red peppers as the base of meal and then season with hot red peppers.
